Overview
In late 2024, I pitched the concept of Cyber Dallas to FGIII Fine Art Productions and Dallas College as part of their Emerging Curator Series. The exhibition came to life in April 2025 as a group showcase expanding on Imani’s Cyber Fantasy (2022). Cyber Dallas brought together artists whose work explored digi-tech, technology, and narrative-driven storytelling. The exhibition opened at SPACE in Adolphus Tower and served as the launch event for the Downtown Dallas Arts & Music Festival.
Vision
Emerging and experimental artists in Dallas often lack access to opportunities to present ambitious work within a professional gallery setting. With Cyber Dallas, my goal was to expand the ideas introduced in Imani’s Cyber Fantasy into a community-driven exhibition that bridged digital imagination with physical space. The exhibition was designed as a platform where diverse artists could explore futurism, technology, and storytelling while reaching new and broader audiences.
Imani’s Role
To bring the vision to life, my responsibilities included:
Curated a roster of artists whose work aligned with the overall vision of the exhibition within a 1,200 square foot gallery space.
Partnered with FGIII Fine Art Productions and Dallas College through their Emerging Curator Series, utilizing the program as the institutional platform for the exhibition.
Secured SPACE at Adolphus Tower as the venue partner, strategically aligning the exhibition with Dallas Arts Month and the Downtown Dallas Arts and Music Festival to maximize visibility, foot traffic, and public engagement.
Developed a comprehensive pitch deck outlining the exhibition concept, vision, and partnership opportunities, which was distributed to artists and used to secure sponsors and collaborators.
Personally managed all artist communication, including submissions, deadlines, artwork placement, and day-of logistics.
Shaped the visual identity of the exhibition, including the development of promotional materials.
Secured press support ahead of the opening. See Press section.
Built anticipation through organic marketing on Instagram and TikTok.
Hosted the opening reception, closing gallery day, and supported multiple activations throughout the exhibition’s run to continue community engagement.
Hired professional photographers to document the opening night for media, promotional, and archival use.
Collaborated with Studio Guillermo Rios to debut the Cyber Dallas collection during opening night.
Partnered with The Group TX and Afro Air Fest to co host a trivia night fundraiser supporting Afro Air Fest, founded by a Cyber Dallas artist, as a way to amplify and support her vision. See Activations section.
Created opportunities for Cyber Dallas artists to sell their work by negotiating reduced booth rates for participation in the Downtown Dallas Arts and Music Festival.
Supported the production of a Tiny Desk inspired performance by Cyber Dallas audiovisual artist April Sha’Lil, presented inside the gallery. See Activations section.
Artists
The exhibition featured 16 multidisciplinary creatives whose work explored digi-tech, cultural futurism, and emerging visual languages across mediums, including but not limited to woven textiles, photography, acrylic painting, projected visual works, and an audio experience.
Press
Press coverage for Cyber Dallas was supported by award-winning Arts and Cultural Journalist Alex Gonzalez.
Activations
This exhibition went beyond a traditional art show. During the two-week exhibition period, we activated multiple touchpoints to spotlight featured artists, elevate sponsors, and engage the broader community.

Studio Guillermo Rios Cyber Dallas Collection and Fashion Show
Alongside the exhibition opening, Imani Black Studios led the photography and creative direction for the campaign shoot of Studio Guillermo Rios’ Cyber Dallas fashion collection, created exclusively for the exhibition launch.
The collection debuted as a runway presentation within the gallery, with Imani Black Studios collaborating with the designer on runway logistics and flow to seamlessly integrate the show into the exhibition experience.
Afro Air Festival Trivia Fundraiser Night
The Afro Art Social was an arts and community fundraising event designed as an immersive experience within the Cyber Dallas exhibition. The sold-out event welcomed 100 attendees, featured live painting, and raised support for Afro Air Fest. Imani Black Studios and FGIII Fine Art Productions provided the gallery space, with The Group TX hosting the event alongside Cyber Dallas artist and Afro Air Fest founder, Weyni Kahsay.

Tiny Desk-inspired performance
In support of Cyber Dallas audiovisual artist April Sha’Lil, we collaborated on the production of a private Tiny Desk–inspired performance presented as a live showcase.
Gallery Closing Day
The gallery closing day was an open-house style event welcoming the public to experience the exhibition for the final time. Located in Downtown Dallas, the event drew in people who were exploring the area and discovering Cyber Dallas for the first time, creating organic exposure to the exhibition and participating artists. The day featured coffee by Flying Horse Cafe and live music by the LB in the Mix band, with over 50 attendees in attendance.
