Hello! I’m Imani Black, an award-winning Photographer and Creative Director based in Charlotte, NC.
My passion for photography and videography began in my hometown of Fayetteville, NC, where I saved up for digital cameras and experimented with my family’s gear. What started as a hobby soon evolved into a deep love for capturing stories through images and videos.
I refined my craft in the Dallas-Fort Worth area while earning my B.A. in Journalism with a focus on Strategic Communications (Advertising) from the University of North Texas. Since 2017, I’ve been building my brand and professional portfolio through projects like the #blackseries (2017) and Day With Dallas (2018). These projects allowed me to discover my creative voice and create a space that empowers other creatives to share their stories and talents.
This journey led to the creation of Imani Black Studios, where I bring ideas to life through photography, videography, and event curation.
My work has been recognized with awards and features, including a banner in Deep Ellum, and I’ve collaborated with notable clients such as Sony, the State Fair of Texas, the Arbor Day Foundation, La Roche-Posay, and more.
As a Black woman, I take pride in highlighting the beauty of all skin tones and capturing authentic stories. My work goes beyond visuals — it celebrates the essence of the people and communities I work with.
When I’m not behind the lens, I enjoy spending time with my family, visiting art galleries, painting, exercising, and being outdoors. These activities keep me inspired and grounded.
