The multimedia exhibition and fashion presentation kicks off August 21
DALLAS, TX(August 6, 2026) — Imani Black Studios and Studio Guillermo Rios are reuniting to present Echoes of Duality: Identidad y Raíces, a collaborative exhibition exploring the intersection of memory, culture, and geographic displacement.
Drawing from Guillermo’s journey growing up on his family’s farm in Mexico to establishing his life in Dallas, the exhibition investigates the nuances of Mexican American identity, heritage, and the concept of living between worlds.
“Echoes of Duality: Identidad y Raíces is a reflection of my journey growing up between Mexico and the United States, where identity, memory, and culture continuously shape who I am as an artist,” says Guillermo. “Through wearable art and abstract expression, I hope to invite people into that conversation and create a space where others can reflect on their own stories.”
The show runs from August 21 through September 19, 2026, pairing Rios’s archival family photographs with new visual work from Imani. Echoes of Duality: Identidad y Raíces marks their second artistic partnership following their 2025 collaboration for Imani’s Cyber Dallas exhibition — where Rios debuted his Art on the Move collection. The artists return to bridge the gap between fine art and contemporary style.
“Working with Guillermo again has been a privilege,” says Imani. “He's incredibly professional, creative, and open to pushing creative boundaries. Seeing my photographs of the garments featured alongside his work while also curating the exhibition has made this collaboration especially meaningful.”

Studio Guillermo Rios Pop-Up Boutique Experience

Highlights: An immersive boutique experience inviting guests to explore and try on a curated collection of one-of-a-kind, hand-painted wearable art. Transforming denim and textiles into wearable canvases, each original piece reflects themes of identity, memory, and duality—offering attendees the opportunity to purchase and collect statement garments designed to be lived in.

About Imani Black
Imani Black is a photographer based in Dallas, TX and founder of Imani Black Studios. The multimedia artist has maintained a presence in Dallas-Fort Worth’s art scene for nearly a decade. Black’s time-forward mission of blending art and technology to imagine a diverse future is echoed through her exhibits, events, and online presence. Some of Black’s accolades include being named a 32 Under 32 Honoree by Ad 2 Dallas and AAF Dallas and being selected for the “Deep Ellum People” campaign, celebrated with a public banner for her significant contributions to the neighborhood.

His work frequently features hand-painted textiles, archival imagery, and sculptural silhouettes that transform personal history into contemporary design.
